Preparations are under way for the fourth annual “Great Middlesex Green Up” is a county-wide initiative of Keep Middlesex Beautiful (KMB). The April event aims to clean up Middlesex County roadways. The “Green Up” is a grassroots effort begun in 2023 to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Middlesex. Since then, volunteers have collected enough trash to fill hundreds of large trash bags.

Kick off

Kicking off the countywide clean up on Saturday, March 21, will be the perennial clean-up volunteers of  the “Old Virginia Street Team.”

The team is organizing a clean-up of Route 602 (Old Virginia Street) from the Urbanna town limits to Middlesex Metals on March 21 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. If there is a large turn out the team may clean to the intersection of Route 602 and Route 17.
