The Friends of Urbanna invites all to enjoy Urbanna’s 12th celebration of Founders Day, starting shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the small park-like green space next to the Middlesex County Woman’s Club building at 210 Virginia St.

This annual family-friendly and free event, celebrating Urbanna’s colon-ial history, will be rung in by a town crier, fifers and drummers, who will all lead event attendees en masse to Urbanna Baptist Church (UBC) at 121 Watling St. for an 11 a.m. living history presentation.

Throughout the day, organizers encourage you to visit Urbanna’s exceptional merchants and eating establishments. “Thank you for attending our annual celebration honoring our rich colonial history,” an event spokesman said.
