Middlesex County is blessed with an extensive collection of historic buildings dotting our scenic location here on the Chesapeake Bay, and Piankatank and Rappahannock rivers. Spanning a time frame from the 1700s through the 1900s, these buildings are full of architectural details that set them apart from modern homes built today. These buildings tell stories of our past residents and their lives spent here in Middlesex.
Join the Middlesex County Museum on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. in the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, 865 General Puller Highway, Saluda, as we learn more about ways to protect this collection of grande dames.
Joanna McKnight from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR) will be presenting an educational talk on historic buildings in Virginia and how to best sustain and protect them now and into the future. She will explain and explore the designations within the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places.
