Ellen Robinson Price, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
Born in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae Robinson and grew up surrounded by family, faith and the values that guided her throughout her life.
Over the years, her life took her through several communities in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Wherever she lived, Ellen carried with her a strong work ethic and a steady, take-charge spirit. She earned a certificate in Food Service Management from Rappahannock Community College and dedicated many years to serving others through her work in food service, including at Middlesex Elementary School and later at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center, Saluda, where she retired.
Ellen had a remarkable green thumb and created a yard that was always filled with color and life. She took great pride in caring for her flowers and keeping her home and surroundings neat and orderly. Being outdoors brought her joy, and she loved watching the birds, butterflies, squirrels, rabbits and deer that often visited her yard. Her connection to nature reflected the calm, consistent and grounded way she moved through the world.
She was known for her stylish presence, her strength and her no-nonsense approach to life, balanced by a warm sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, gardening, fishing and taking trips with her family, church and community. Her faith anchored her and she was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Saluda. She lived her beliefs through quiet acts of service, including volunteering at the Cryer Center in Locust Hill. Ellen valued treating everyone with respect, managing her responsibilities with care and keeping her home and life in order.
She is survived by her children, Mary Price and Melanie Price of Pennsylvania and James Price Jr. of Georgia; her grandchildren, Ashley Price-Horton, Melanie Horton, James Horton Jr., and Tyler Robinson; and her great-grandchildren, Gary, Ashton and Olivia. She also leaves behind her sisters, Marie Beverly, Dorothy Bennett, Janie Parker, Eunice Parker and Dinah Robinson.
Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings, Christine Whitting, Sue Fitchett and Arthur Robinson Jr.
In honor of her lifelong love of nature and service, the family welcomes contributions to a local food pantry or the Cryer Center
