Deltaville deadrise Henry Clay finds new life

Now in Maryland as the Driftwood

For many decades, Deltaville was Virginia’s wooden deadrise/cross-planked boatbuilding capital with boatbuilders and boatbuilding sheds scattered along the shores of Broad and Jackson creeks.

Wooden boat buyers came from up and down the Chesapeake Bay to purchase a Deltaville deadrise from a builder of their choice. With the last Deltaville commercial wooden boatbuilder gone today, owners of those boats still around take pride in that their boat came from Deltaville.
