The Middlesex High School wrestling team lost tough matches on December 18 to Class 6A Ocean Lakes of Virginia Beach and Class 2A Nandua of the Eastern Shore.
The Chargers lost 37-36 to Ocean Lakes and lost 51-27 to Nandua. Middlesex traveled to the Eastern Shore for the tri-match.
Winning both their matches for the Chargers were Brock Parrish in the 113-pound division, Parker Smith in the 126-pound class, Cole Ruark in the 170-pound division, and Andrew Gwynn in the 285-pound division.
Middlesex’s Thomas Wilson was 1-1 in the 120-pound class; Wyatt Brown, 1-1, 160-pound division; Brayden Deel, 1-1, 182-pound class; and Rawan Anderson, 1-1, 132-pound class.
Cole Stamm was 1-0, 195-pound class, and Austin Elliott was 1-0 in the 152-pound class.
Cole Harris went 0-1 in the 195-pound class, and Lakin Millen and Aaron Darnell were 0-1 in the 106-pound class.
Nathan Campbell went 0-2 in the 132-pound division; Eric Graulich, 0-2, 138-pound class; Jordan Millen, 0-2, 145-pound class; Chris Stokes, 0-2, 152-pound class; and Skyler Mason, 0-2, 220-pound class.
At the Lancaster Duals wrestling tournament on December 21, the Chargers finished third as a team. MHS lost to Chilowie and Lancaster and defeated Northumberland, Washington & Lee, Tabb and Franklin.
The Chargers were paced by Brock Parrish, Thomas Wilson, Parker Smith and Jordan Millen, who all finished 5-0 in their weight classes.
Cole Ruark, Brayden Deel and Andrew Gwynn finished 4-1 in their weight classes. Eric Graulich went 2-4 in his division, and Nathan Campbell and Skyler Mason finished with 1-4 records.
In exhibition matches, Cole Harris was 1-3; Lakin Millen, Owen Wynberry and Owen Miller, 0-3; Rowan Anderson, 0-2; and Aaron Darnell, 0-1.
MHS will have its first home meet of the season against Windsor and Northumberland on Wednesday, January 8, at 5 p.m.
