More than 100 yogis gathered recently at YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka for the 17th annual Kekoka Yoga Retreat. The three-day retreat raised almost $30,000 for camper scholarships, and the theme this year was “Empower.”

Event founder and chairman Susan Johnson gathered a team of 27 session leaders from the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, Hampton Roads and Richmond. Their classes allowed participants to sample a variety of yoga and teaching styles, ranging from meditative to energetic.

These included vinyasa, yin and Kundalini yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Gyrokinesis, sound bowl healing, and myofascial release. New this year was a presentation on bone health, a life coaching workshop, Integral Yoga, and ecstatic dance.
