Volunteer River Counties, the region’s leading online volunteer platform, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Sept. 11, 2026 — coinciding with the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Since launching in 2025, Volunteer River Counties has achieved several major milestones. Volunteer River Counties features volunteer opportunities from more than 100 nonprofit organizations across Middlesex, Lancaster, Northumberland, Gloucester, Westmoreland and Richmond counties — and beyond. With nearly 1,000 registered volunteer users, partner organizations receive thousands of monthly views on their posted opportunities, helping to amplify their missions and support community needs throughout the region.
Through a new partnership with area schools, Volunteer River Counties launched a student volunteer initiative, “Learn to Serve,” by coordinating the largest all-school service day in the River Counties. More than 250 students, ranging from seventh grade to high school seniors, participated in volunteer projects hosted by 20 local nonprofit organizations.
