
All three of Middlesex County Public Schools earned full accreditation from the Virginia Department of Education for the 2025-2026 school year.
Middlesex High School had the highest score of all high schools in Region III, reported MCPS School Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz at the Monday, Jan. 12, regular monthly school board meeting at the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium.
“Under new VDOE standards recently released it highlights Middlesex County Public Schools as a powerhouse under Virginia’s new point-based accountability system,” said Dr. Seitz.
The new system moves away from SOL pass rates to a point system for mastery, growth and readiness. At the high school level the point system includes the graduation rate and points assigned in three categories — enrollment, enlistment and employment.

MHS has emerged as the number one high school in Region III, a division encompassing 17 school districts and 26 high schools ranging from Stafford County to the north and to Mathews County to the south.
