Sponsored by the Urbanna Oyster Festival Marine Legacy Program, Chesapeake Academy fourth and seventh grade students recently enjoyed half-day boat trips designed to illuminate the marine ecosystems in Urbanna Creek. Students enjoyed learning about the life cycle of crabs as well as the anatomy of an oyster and its vital role in cleaning local waterways.
Throughout the trip, students explored the ecological impacts on water quality and marine diversity of land use choices.
