In keeping with the celebration of its big anniversary this year, Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will once again reminisce its 50 years on Saturday, Sept. 13, by highlighting songs by artists who have played at the Mathews’ Opry.

And there’s a twist — a few songs will be done by artists from the Grand Ole Opry, but not the Li’l Ole Opry… and there will be a quiz!
This show will highlight songs sung and/or written by national and local artists who have graced their stage and will feature the house band, Shades of Country, and all of the Opry singers plus several special guests!
The group will be performing at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for all adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger and can be purchased in advance at the Mathews Visitor Center in Mathews and Marketplace Antiques on U.S. Route 17 in Hayes. As always, tickets are available at the door on show night, starting at 6:30 p.m.
This upcoming show will highlight performers Ralph Motley, Lynda Smith, Richard Smith (drums), AJ McKeen, Tracy Hill, William Earl Sadler (keyboards), Susan Ripley, David Shuber (bass guitar), Sam Hogge (lead guitar), Michael Gregg (fiddle), Faith Kemp, Hunter Owens, Ryan Babarsky, Mike McDevitt (lead guitar) and Jeff Long.
As always, the Opry offers fun, entertaining shows of new country favorites as well as the songs everyone remembers! We are a family show and we have music for all ages! Please visit www.donkstheater.com for a complete list of 2025 dates and featured performers.
Continue to celebrate 50 years of the Opry!
