The Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday, Nov. 17, near Grey’s Point on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.
At approximately 3:02 p.m., troopers responded to the eastbound lane of the bridge for a reported two-vehicle crash that was blocking the roadway. Initial reports indicated minor injuries. However, the crash was later determined to be injury-free, reported Division 1 public information officer Sgt. Jessica B. Shehan.
A 2011 Toyota Camry, operated by Sevella Mary Brent, 77, of Dutton was traveling east on Grey’s Point Road (Route 3) when it struck the right-side guardrail several times. The vehicle then crossed the double yellow centerline and struck a 2011 Ford F-350 operated by William Stuart Hundt, 70, of Weems.
Brent told troopers that glare from the sun impaired her vision as she traveled across the bridge. She was released on a summons for reckless driving-general.
The Virginia Department of Transportation was notified and bridge inspectors responded to assess the structure. No safety concerns were found, and the bridge was cleared to reopen. Traffic resumed at approximately 4:41 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation, said Sgt. Shehan.
