The Mitchell Map Cartouche

Topped by a 1700s-style tri-cornered hat and wearing a colonial costume, Urbanna’s Dr. Paul Malone gave a sidewalk talk last Saturday, August 1, 2020, in Urbanna at the town’s annual Founders Day celebration. Malone talked about Urbanna historical figure Dr. John Mitchell and the 1755 Mitchell Map, where he enlarged a digital version in order to focus on the cartouche and the symbolism used to represent Urbanna during those colonial times.
