Zoar pastor performs baptism in river after Stingray service

The Rev. John Snow, right, the pastor of Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville, baptizes Don Hollingshead Sunday in the Rappahannock River. The baptism followed Zoar’s outdoor weekly 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship service near Stingray Point. “We all love an old-fashioned baptism in the river,” said Ruth Downs, church deacon. “We rejoice with each soul saved.” Everyone is welcome and invited to bring a lawn chair and join Zoar members for the services, which are under the pines off Speck Lane, which runs off the end of General Puller Highway (Route 33) in Deltaville.
