Teacher raises hit a roadblock

At a Middlesex County School Board public hearing on a proposed school budget on Monday, Feb. 23, the proposed budget called for an overall 5.3% raise to teachers and 4.3% overall raise for all other school employees. (FY 26-27 runs from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027). No members of the public attended the hearing.

At a Middlesex County Board of Supervisors budget work session on Tuesday, Feb. 24, the proposal hit a roadblock as Middlesex County Administrator Matt Walker reported that the local appropriation share from the county’s proposed FY 26-27 budget to school will only support a 2% cost of living raise.
