Supervisors seek info on proposed ‘campground’

Would handle some customer overflow from Deltaville’s Dockside Inn

Middlesex Supervisors voted 3-2 on Sept. 8 at a public hearing to table action on a special exception request to allow a six unit “campground” at 70 Dockside Drive in Deltaville.

Chris Sovine of Dockside Inn in Deltaville said the business is applying for six camping sites near the inn to provide “overflow” from the motel and to accommodate sailors who come by water for boat maintenance and need a site for a trailer to live in while boat maintenance is being done.

“Camping is not our business,” said Sovine. “We will get $40 a night for a campsite while the motel rooms are much more, but we see this as a way to provide overflow for our business and for sailors.”
