Stanley McKinley Hodges, son of the late Alexander Sr. and Lillie Iona Yarbrough Hodges, was born Oct. 8, 1948 in Saluda.
He was the fifth of six children, Callie Avis, Alexander Jr., Larry McKinley, Mary Corrine and Gloria Jean Hodges.
Stanley completed 74 years of earthly life on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home in Woodbridge.
Stanley met Carolyn Teresa Copeland in Washington, D.C., on July 4, 1974. At the time, Stanley was working for Slattery Construction Company where he met Carolyn’s father, Algie Copeland. As a coworker, he got to know Stanley as a “man of integrity.” Algie introduced them, and they were married on July 12, 1977. They have been married for 46 years.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Sr. and Lillie; brothers, Alexander Jr. and Larry; grandparents, Nelson, Lucille and Avis Hodges.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Carolyn; nephews, John Algie and Damon Copeland; sisters, Avis, Corrine, Gloria; daughters, Tracey Scott, Michelle Killgro, Kathy Gray; grandchildren, Chandon Hodges, Synika Phillips, Lewis and Donte Cooper, Dymarus Treyvohn Cooper, Devin and Darius Killgro, Jamaar Gaines, Jordan and Denzell Johnson; great-grandchildren, Skylah and Messiah Phillips, Autumn and Amauri Cooper, Dakota, Corey, Laila, Knox and Alijah Gaines, Alora Johnson and Summer Holmes.
A funeral service is planned for 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Saluda. The family will receive friends, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by interment at the church cemetery. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, is assisting the family.
