More than 70 people gathered in front of the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse in Saluda Saturday morning to celebrate President Donald Trump’s accomplishments during his first five months in office. Young and old alike were in a festive mood while the famous “YMCA” song played and passing motorists honked their horns in support of Trump.
Signs supporting Trump and current state Republican candidates lined the street with people waving Trump flags and enjoying an ice cream cone on the sidewalk. U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st Dist., stopped by for a chat with participants as well.
Several folks from Spotsylvania and Amelia counties had heard about the event while camping at a local campground and decided to join the fun. There was a high school student who came all the way from Newport News to show his support after his grandfather told him about the event. A number of people mentioned they were happy to hear of the recent Supreme Court ruling against district judges passing national injunctions. One rally-goer said she started to make a sign that said, “No King Day for district judges.” It was a fun time for old and young alike.
