School system approves $1,000 per employee bonus

Middlesex County School Board measure represents a $249,000 total allocation

The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) voted unanimously to approve a $1,000 per employee Christmas bonus, a $249,000 allocation. The vote came at the school board’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 10.

The Virginia General Assembly and Governor Glenn Youngkin approved allocation of $5.4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (COVID-19 federal funds) to provide a $1,000 bonus to all Standard of Quality (SOQ) school personnel across the state.

At the board meeting, school superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz reported that the Middlesex County Public School System (MCPSS) will receive $121,000 from the state to go towards bonuses for SOQ employees…
