The public is invited to Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park’s extremely popular 19th annual “Scary Halloween in the Park” happening Friday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is the actual date of Halloween. All area families are welcome. Scary Halloween is a free event sponsored by museum members, local businesses and the maritime museum.
Scary Halloween in the Park offers a safe, spacious park for all on the Peninsula to come and enjoy Halloween. You will find plenty of convenient lit parking, a less scary area in the “Perilous Pavilion,” where volunteers and businesses hand out candy to all, hayrides (usually two wagons) through the ghosts, goblins and “holo-illusions” of the “Field of Screams,” and the very scary paths through the “Wailin’ Woods” for the stout of heart. There is always plenty of candy, candy, candy for all. Hot dogs, hot coffee, and hot chocolate and bottled water will be available.
All businesses, organizations and individuals are welcome to come out and staff their own table to hand out candy, either as a promotion or just plain fun. Interested? Call the museum office at 804-776-7200. Candy tables are available. Much help is still needed.
Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park, a volunteer, nonprofit organization, is in Deltaville at 287 Jackson Creek Road, and by water on Mill Creek. To get to the museum and park, follow General Puller Highway (Route 33) through Deltaville and turn right across from the Chris Mart Citgo convenience store onto Jackson Creek Road (Route 660).
