Sara Hoople Penfield

Sara Hoople Penfield, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021.

She was born to the late Robert and Almeda Hoople of Syracuse, N.Y., on Sept. 18, 1934.

She attended Nottingham High School before attending Syracuse University, where she graduated with a fine arts degree in Interior Design.

She taught school in Key West, Fla.

She was an active member of both Community Theater and Children’s Theater in East Aurora, N.Y., and in Ottawa, Ill. She was a member of the board of trustees for Illinois Valley Community College and a founding member of the Committee for the Beautification of Ottawa, Ill.

She was a member of Lower United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David; and her grandsons, Chris and Luke.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill; her children, Julie, Russell, (Jameliah), Clifford, (Lisa) and Adam; her grandchildren, Brittany King, Jeremy, Kendall, Myles and Chelsea; as well as her great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Stella and Jeremy.
