Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) at Christchurch invites everyone to a concert benefiting Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Jamaica.
Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, which had stood for 147 years, was destroyed by a fire in November 2018. While the ashes were still smoldering, Reverend Dunn, the church pastor, met with his congregation and while looking at the devastation said, “We have not lost our church. We have just lost the building.”
Construction has begun on the replacement building, but to Reverend Dunn and the congregation’s dismay, they were informed that insurance would not cover the contents of the church lost in the fire.
Hearing this, representatives of Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) contacted Reverend Dunn and asked how their church could be of assistance. It was decided that replacing the uninsured items would best suit the needs of Saint Paul’s.
It was decided that a fundraising event would be best and the “Share the Love” concert took life. It will be held on Saturday, February 15, from 3-5 p.m. in the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium at Locust Hill.
Several local performers immediately jumped on board and are recruiting other performers to donate their time and talent to this most worthy cause. When the program is complete a full listing of those participating will be included in future updates.
How will this work? A “love offering” will be collected at the door on the day of the concert. If you cannot attend and would like to make an offering, please send a check made payable to Christ Church Parish with the notation “Saint Paul’s Love Offering” to: Christ Church Parish, 56 Christchurch Lane, Saluda, VA 23149.
All proceeds will go directly to St. Paul’s Baptist Church.
