Born on Oct. 31, 1933, Roland Pierce was a dedicated family man and a cherished member of his church and community.
Together, we celebrate the remarkable life of Roland Pierce, who passed at 92 years old.
On Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, he joined his beloved wife of 59 years, Addie, in eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Frances Pierce; his siblings, Dorothy Barton, and Eugene “Genie” Pierce; his brother-in-law, James Crumpton; and son-in-law, Donny Fitzke.
He is survived by his siblings, Sherman Pierce (Janet “Dinkie”) of Southern Shores, N.C., Sarah Crumpton of Lexington, and Betty Sears (Willie) of Saluda; his children, Jamie (Lynda) of Virginia Beach and Kathi Fitzke of North Chesterfield; his grandchildren, Jason Fitzke, Daniel Fitzke (Kelli), Harrison (Selina), and Savannah; his great-grandchildren, Patrick and Ember; and his special partner, Sonja Shy.
Starting from a modest upbringing, his legacy of perseverance and love for life will forever inspire his family and friends. Roland served in the U.S. Army, and he was an entrepreneur who built a successful business. He was a fisherman, hunter, and animal lover. He was a founding member of “The Survivors,” a Southern gospel quartet. Roland was a dedicated member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church, member of the Joy Club, served on committees and participated in the music worship.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. A 10 a.m. viewing precedes the on-site graveside service. A reception will be conducted in the fellowship hall following the service.
Roland’s kindness, generosity and unwavering love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, you can make a contribution to your local animal shelter to honor Roland’s love for animals.
