Middlesex, Urbanna ready to rake in new cigarette tax money

Middlesex County and the Town of Urbanna will be receiving revenues starting the end of September from a recently instituted 40-cents per pack cigarette tax.

Starting Aug. 1, the Chesapeake Bay Region Cigarette Tax Commission (CBRCTC) launched the regional tax, which requires all wholesale cigarette dealers to purchase a joint state/regional stamp (tax) for all packs of cigarettes sold…
