Middlesex High School’s (MHS) tennis team (2-1) defeated Lancaster 7-2 in a home match Monday.
In No. 1 singles action, Charger girl Maddie Green downed her Red Devil girl opponent 8-0, No. 2 Virginia Reinhardt won 8-2; No. 3 Hailey Bruce won 8-3; No. 4 Zikirah Morris won 8-1 in her first victory as a MHS tennis player, No. 5 Meeha Farris won 8-1 and No. 6 Addy Heasley had to forfeit her match due to injury.
In No. 1 doubles action Green-Reinhardt won 8-0, No. 2 Bruce-Morris won 7-1 (the match was stopped at 7-1 due to injury on Lancaster second doubles) and No. 3 Middlesex forfeited due to an injuried Charger girl being unable to play in match.
MHS next took on the West Point Pointer girls in a home match Wednesday. Results were unavailable at press time.
Coach Matthew Short’s Charger girls are set to take on arch-rival Mathews in a 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 match at home.
