Middlesex tennis girls defeat Mathews 5-2

Charger girls remain undefeated in Tidewater District play

by Don Richeson –

Middlesex High School’s (MHS) girls tennis team (5-1, 2-0) defeated Mathews 5-2 in home action Wednesday, April 13, and remain undefeated in district play.

Two matches were called early due to lack of daylight. “The match started at 4 p.m. — at 7:30 p.m. the match was still going on, but the lack of lights on the MHS tennis courts caused us to call the last two matches early due to the lack of daylight,” MHS Coach Matt Short said.

The MHS team took on Essex Wednesday, April 20. It was undecided at press time if the match would be at Middlesex or in Essex. Results were unavailable at press time. The Charger girls are set to host Northampton at 4 p.m. Monday, April 25.
