Middlesex Registrar Welch completes program

The Middlesex County Electoral Board announced recently that Melissa Welch, Middlesex’s director of elections and general registrar, has completed the Election Center Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) program, the highest professional achievement for election officials in the U.S.

The Election Center’s CERA program is a recognized national certification designed to elevate the skills and knowledge of election professionals. It is awarded to individuals through a multi-year course of study taught by the Auburn University’s Master in Public Administration faculty, through the Institute of Election Administration Research and Practice, in partnership with the National Association of Election Officials commonly known as the “Election Center.”

Since Welch joined the elections field in 2003 and as director since 2014, she has demonstrated unmatched dedication and leadership in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and accessibility of the electoral process, stated an Election Center spokesman. Under Welch’s leadership as director, the office has earned a reputation for its proactive approach to election integrity, ensuring that voters can trust the process.
