Middlesex wrestling team defeats Mathews, King William to capture Tidewater championship

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger wrestling team won the 2022 Tidewater District title Wednesday, Jan. 26, with a 36-34 win over the King William Cavaliers and a 42-30 victory over the Mathews Blue Devils. The Chargers ended their regular season with a 14-2 win-loss record.

“It was a really good regular season,” said MHS Head Coach Joel Anderson. “Thank you to all of our parents and wrestling team families for your support through the season and to my coaching staff of Devante Robinson, Wayne Mount and Vladimir Rowe.”

The Chargers will compete in the Region A wrestling tournament, which is set for 9 a.m. this Saturday, Feb. 5 at Cumberland High School…
