MHS water leak costly

Asbestos handling needed

A large water leak in the old Middlesex High School (MHS) east wing has been located and is in the process of being fixed.

The Middlesex County Public Schools financial department got a surprise in January when the monthly bill for December 2025 from Aqua Water System arrived. The bill that usually runs about $300 a month for 20,000 gallons was $2,700 for more than 180,000 gallons of usage.

School report

An email report to parents and staff on Feb. 27 from School Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz stated that in January, school officials identified unusually high water usage that signaled a potential leak in one of the building’s water lines. The affected line supplies water to the MHS east wing…
