The undefeated varsity volleyball team of Middlesex High School is 9-0 after wins against Lancaster, Charles City, and King & Queen Central.
Middlesex prevailed in a five-set game on Sept. 15 at Lancaster, where the Lady Charger hitters combined for 40 kills.
The Lady Chargers were tested as indicated by the scores in the middle games where the winning margins were no more than 4 points.
Middlesex took the first set 25-19 and the third set 25-21. Lancaster won set two 25-22 and set four 25-22 setting up a fifth set showdown that Middlesex won in overtime 16-14.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, Middlesex swept Charles City 25-6, 25-14 and 25-5.
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Middlesex came away from King & Queen with their ninth win of the season.
On Sept. 29, Middlesex hosts Northumberland; and is at King William on Sept. 30. Middlesex travels to West Point on Oct. 2. The junior varsity plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
