The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger golf and football teams kicked off the 2026 fall sports season this week.
MHS will take on Nandua High School in a football scrimmage this Friday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. on Bristow-Boxley Field at the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex in Saluda and the golf team may take on Essex at Hartfield’s Piankatank River Golf Course today, Thursday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. (The Sentinel hadn’t received confirmation on the golf match by press time).
MHS has a new head football coach as former Middlesex Charger player Matthew Duke has taken over the reins from coach Mark Bowen. The Chargers opening regular season game is against Surry County High School on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex in Saluda.
