Middlesex baseball team corrals Chincoteague Ponies 13-1 in quarterfinal
The Middlesex High School (MHS) baseball team advanced in the Region A baseball tournament with a 13-1 victory over the Chincoteague Ponies in the quarterfinals of the tournament Thursday, May 25 at Syd Thrift Athletic Complex in Saluda.
The Chargers scored six runs in the first inning and six more in the second inning to put the game out of reach. Patrick Larson was the winning pitcher and gave up no hits in three innings.
Kaden Hunley finished off the fourth and fifth innings giving up only one hit in his two innings. Hunley also paced the offense with two hits out of his three at bat.
Peyton Lambert connected for a triple and Simon Larson doubled. Hudson McMinn had two singles and Garrison Robins singled for the Chargers.
MHS is the number three seed in the tournament and was set to play in a semifinal game on Tuesday, taking on the number two seed team Rappahannock. The Raiders advanced to the semifinals by beating Northumberland 15-5 in the quarterfinals. Essex advanced with a 21-3 win over West Point and Lancaster moved to the semi-finals with a 19-9 win over Mathews. Essex and Lancaster will play in the other semifinal game.
