The Fellowship Committee of Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) conducted its annual Middlesex County Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the church social hall. More than 100 county veterans were honored with a Thanksgiving turkey and dressing luncheon by the church.

“This is all about our wonderful veterans,” said Mary Lynn Landgraf during welcoming remarks to a packed audience. “It is a great privilege for us to hold this annual event and we enjoy every aspect of making it happen. We play where we pray and that is right here at Christ Church.”

At the event, all of the Middlesex veterans in attendance were recognized by being asked to stand when the song of the branch of service they served was sung. Veterans from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard were all represented.

The Middlesex High School ROTC color guard presented the colors and retired the flags right after Deltaville’s Toby Gillie played an emotional version of taps at the very end of the program.
