More than 150 Middlesex County Public Schools students attended the fifth annual “Splish, Splash Back to School Bash” offered at Camp Piankatank in Hartfield on Saturday, Aug. 8 for a fun day in the pool, on the basketball court, the game field and a picnic under the camp’s outside pavilion.
“This is our fifth year and it has been a success year after year,” said Dawn Moore, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Middlesex Branch. “We are so appreciative to all of our sponsors who make our back to school bash a success.”
The day is filled with fun and games but is serious about providing school supplies to all students. The school supply room was well attended as parents and their children picked up free “basic” school supplies for the opening day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
