Martha Duke Newsome Jackson passed to her next life stage on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022, at the age of 89.
A proud Grace Hospital graduate, she was a registered nurse who nursed professionally and for family and friends for 50-plus years.
She leaves behind her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jackson; her son, George Allen Jackson (wife Theresa Lee); granddaughter, Meghann Jackson Webb; and great-granddaughter, Peyton Shelby Webb.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Maude Duke Newsome and George Edward Newsome Sr.; her husband, Clarence B. Jackson Sr.; son, Clarence B. ”Bernie” Jackson Jr.; and grandson, Clarence B. “Clint” Jackson III. Martha was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
She had a passion for birds, dogs, cats and all of God’s creatures. She had a desire to work long after her retirement.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond.
Donations can be made in her memory to the Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck, or your favorite local animal charity.
