kreiderLeigh Trotter Kreider passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. surrounded by her loving family.

Daughter of I. Edward Trotter Jr. and Mary Brame Trotter, Leigh was born Sept. 24, 1957 in Lynchburg.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James “Jim” P. Kreider; and her two sons, James E. Kreider (Shana) and David R. Kreider (Laura). She is also survived by her two brothers, Isham Edward “Nick” Trotter III (Jennifer) and Mitchell Trotter (Susan).

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Leigh grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from Seven Hills School before attending and graduating from the University of Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Leigh and Jim lived in Pennsylvania and Maryland before retiring to a seaside condo in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. to enjoy the ocean view and nature. She had a lifelong appreciation for nature, which led to her active involvement with the North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol in retirement. She enjoyed walks with Jim to a local marsh wildlife preserve and accompanying Jim on local golf courses to view the wildlife. She was also active in Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful projects.

For James and David, she was a loving mother involved with their academic and athletic ventures. She volunteered to chaperone field trips and events, provided help with homework, and was a “Team Mom” for youth sports teams throughout their childhoods. After her sons grew up, she continued to help and support them and their wives in many aspects of their lives.

In lieu of flowers, Leigh and the family would appreciate donations to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, or The Humane Society or to a local animal shelter.

A memorial service for Leigh is planned for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3712 Weems Road, Weems, VA 22576. Interment will follow the service in the family plot in Urbanna.
