Jim B. Thrift has withdrawn as a candidate for the Urbanna Town Council in the general election, reported Melissa Welch, Middlesex County’s director of elections and general registrar. Thrift submitted his paperwork to withdraw from the Nov. 3 election last week, and withdrew after the ballot had already been printed and therefore his name will still appear on the ballot, Welch explained. A notice will be posted at the precinct and in each voting booth to notify voters.
On Urbanna’s regular election ballot there are four candidates seeking three open seats on town council. The candidates in the order they appear on the ballot are Lisa M. Powers, John William Ryland III, Anthony C. Pearce, and Martha J. Lowe. Terms are four years and begin Jan. 1, 2027.
