Jess L. Brown died on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
He was born on April 8, 1940 in Marion, Ky.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy M. Brown and Mary Bragdon Brown; three sisters; and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Guth Brown; sons, Jess A. Brown (Denise) of Williamsburg, and Robert “Bob” J. Brown of Saluda; seven grandchildren, Clark, Cori, Caroline, Robert (Mollie), Raymond (Margo), Richard (Patricia) and Zachary; two step-grandchildren, Cole and Peyton Francum; three great-grandsons, Logan, Benjamin and Grayson; one sister, Fay Brown; two brothers, Ted Brown and Neal Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Jess retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977 with 20 years of service and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was the proud owner of Brown’s Propeller and Marine Service in Deltaville for 15 years. After selling his business, he worked for Bay Equipment in Newport News for many years.
A private service and interment will be conducted at Amelia Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Virginia.
