Jeanette “Granny” S. Holt of Glenns, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from complications of existing health problems.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine D. and Raymond Soles; her brothers, Roy Soles and Hugh Soles (Alverda); her beloved husband, Charles “Charlie” I. Holt; and her son, Wayne T. Holt.
She was a no-nonsense, old-school woman — kind, honest and hardworking — who devoted herself to her family as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She touched the hearts and minds of all who knew her and left a lasting impression on many.
She is survived by her three children, Michael Warren Holt (Malissa), Kathy Miller, and Lisa Boswell (Dennis); her grandchildren, Cole Tyler Holt, Emily Boswell Fox (Devin), and Erin Schaffer; and her great-grandsons, Joseph Philip Kerr and Seth Michael Holt. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many beloved “adopted” grandchildren who affectionately called her “Granny.”
She was a lover of the outdoors and everything pertaining to gardening and flowers. She liked to do woodworking and other crafts, as well as going fishing and hunting in her younger days. She will be forever in the hearts and on the minds of many people and will be sorely missed and always remembered.
A memorial was conducted in her honor on Friday, July 18, at her home in Glenns, at 6 p.m. (4011 Holts Lane, Saluda). Fellowship and food followed on premises.
In lieu of cut flowers, please give potted plants that can be planted outside at her home, or make contributions in her name to Gloucester Hospice or Middlesex’s Cryer Center.
Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, assisted the family.
