House tour in lower King and Queen slated for April 29

Garrett Anderson House

The Garrett Anderson House is one of five houses to be featured in this year’s house tour hosted by the Garden Club of the Middle Peninsula on Friday, April 29. This 19th century farmhouse was built on family land that was part of a property known as Bellevue. Beverly Anderson purchased Bellevue in 1835. He left the property to his two sons, Wilbur and Garrett. Wilbur received the land with Bellevue while Garrett inherited the other half of the property.

The five houses on tour are in a setting of rural splendor, with towering shade trees, three with sweeping river views of the York or Mattaponi rivers. Visitors are invited to spend a day exploring the beautiful landscape of lower King and Queen County.

Tickets

Morning and afternoon tickets are available online, $35, for advance purchase only at www.vagardenweek.org. Tickets will not be sold on the day of the tour. Tour headquarters and the marketplace will be located at Poroporone Baptist Church, 30071 The Trail, Shacklefords.
