Falling leaves and temperatures remind folks that winter is approaching fast; but there are still plenty of great things to observe in the woods. Nature guides will help to point out interesting plants, lichens and fungus on the forest floor and there will surely be birds flying in the canopy.
This season’s Friends of Dragon Run (FODR) members hike is set for 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. It will be offered at their newest property, Dragon Flats, in Middlesex County on Farley Park Road. Hikers will have views of the Dragon. There will be almost no elevation on the walk and participants will be given time to observe and take photos.
Following the hike, there will be snacks and time to socialize. Registration is currently available on the home page of the FODR website (DragonRun.org). If you plan to bring a guest, please make sure you enter the guest’s name, email and phone number. A few days before the event all who register will receive directions and updates.
Let them know if you are bringing children. They will have scavenger hunt sheets for them to use during the hike. Not a member? Sign up to be a member on our website for a minimum donation of $25.
