Everette Campbell Wright, a longtime resident of Urbanna, passed away peacefully in his home after a long fight with prostate cancer on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. His friend, William DeWalt, was by his side.
Everette was born on Nov. 4, 1950 to Alma and Oscar Wright.
Everette graduated from Middlesex High School.
After graduation, Everette worked for the electric company in Saluda for several years. He then worked at the ABC store in Urbanna for more than 20 years.
Everette was predeceased by his mother, Alma Wright; father, Oscar Wright; and brother, Wayne Wright.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Christy (Ballis) Castro; his son, Brian Everette Wright; granddaughter, Hayden E. Wright (granddaughter); sister, Nancy Mayo; and brothers, Johnny Wright and Richard Wright.
After his retirement, Everette spent time growing his garden, and freshwater fishing. He loved all sports and playing them. Many of friends still remember his nickname, “Half pint.”
A private service for family will be conducted at a later date.
