According to the Virginia Department of Elections, early voting will begin Friday, March 6, for the upcoming statewide referendum on a proposed constitutional amendment on congressional redistricting.
Early voting will continue through Saturday, April 18. Saturday voting also will be available on April 11. Election Day is April 21.
According to the Virginia Department of Elections website, the proposed language for the ballot question asks “Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
Key deadlines for the special election are: registering to vote or updating registration, April 14; applying for mailed absentee ballots, April 10; returning mailed ballots in person, 7 p.m. on Election Day, April 21; returning mailed ballots by mail, postmarked by Election Day, April 21.
