Philippi Christian Church’s July Fourth Bake Sale and Silent Auction Fundraiser is set for 7-11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at Philippi at 17276 General Puller Highway in Deltaville. It will offer cookies, cakes, muffins, breads, gift cards, business merchandise, gifts, baskets and crafts.

Proceeds will fund Philippi’s local Middlesex County missions. Cash or checks only are accepted at the rain or shine event.

Join with Dr. Cheryl Davis in the heartfelt love for the country and come to a special presentation set for 5 p.m. Friday, June 26, at All Saints Anglican Church, 48 New St., Saluda. Dr. Davis will lead the way with a celebration in music of the country’s founding and the country’s wonderful freedoms.

Union Shiloh Baptist Church, 1475 Tidewater Trail, Jamaica, will celebrate its 157th church anniversary on Sunday, June 21. The morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. The message will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Marion Tapscott of  Henrico.

A meal will be provided after the service.

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 10256 Indian Road, Gloucester, will have in-person worship service on Sunday, June 14, at 11 a.m. Pastor Eugene Comithier II will preach and the Youth Choir will sing.

In-person Sunday school will be offered at 9:45 a.m.

Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) at 56 Christchurch Lane in Christchurch welcomes everyone to attend its services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. There is a coffee hour after each service for refreshments and relaxation. A nursery is provided in the fellowship hall during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Starting in July, on the first and third Sunday of each month, (July 5 and 19) children pre-kindergarten through grade five are welcome to attend its Sunday school class (“Godly Play”) during the 10:30 a.m. service. (This is a change from the former once a month schedule.) They then join their parents for worship in the church.

Mark your calendar: The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of Christ Church Parish will again be offering their popular Trash and Treasure Sale on Saturday, July 18, from 8 a.m. to noon in the fellowship hall. Come find kitchen items, collectibles, garden items and tools, nautical and seasonal items, and furniture.

“Come join our vibrant community of worshipers!” a church spokesman urged.


All are invited to attend the Sunday, June 14, 9 a.m. worship service at the Bethpage Camp-Resort amphitheater. Dress is casual. In case of inclement weather, go to Bethpage’s pavilion or rally center.

This non-denominational gathering of fellowship, worship and music has been co-hosted by Urbanna Baptist Church and Bethpage for 45 summers.

This Sunday’s speaker will be the Rev. Guy Holloway, who was the minister of Grace Community Church, Richmond, for 30 years! The music will be presented by Charles “Bunny” Dunlevy, music minister of Urbanna United Methodist Church.

The Ushers Ministry of Union Shiloh Baptist Church in Jamaica will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m. The musical guest will be the Male Chorus from Union Hope Baptist Church, Center Cross.


Congregants at Lower United Methodist Church (LUMC) at 120 Lower Church Road in Hartfield invite everyone to join them this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for their traditional worship service in their historic sanctuary.

Adult Sunday school is offered Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the LUMC Fellowship Hall, preceded by Coffee Fellowship beginning at 9:15 a.m.

The LUMC women’s choral ensemble, Wellspring, meets Monday at 6 p.m.; and at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the LUMC handbell choir, Embellish, will practice.

The community is invited to stop by LUMC Fellowship Hall Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for free coffeehouse drinks.

All are invited to a time of group prayer every Wednesday at 4 p.m.
