Charles A. Fritter Sr., 82, of Urbanna, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Caroline Gayle (Bebe) Fritter; son, Chuck Fritter (Marcy); brother, Lewis (Jan); and sister, Carol Clemens (Paul).
He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and James; brothers, James (Sheila) and Johnny (Lyn); and sister, Doris Clemens (David).
Charlie retired from Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department in 1995 after 23 years with a total of 33 years in law enforcement.
He was a Mason for 58 years, in Kena Shriners for more than 40 years, and a member of Urbanna United Methodist Church through which he completed international mission trips to Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico, plus Homestead, Fla., following Hurricane Andrew in 1992. He also was a member of several chapters of the Blue Knights of Virginia.
In addition to his family, he is survived by his beloved African gray parrot, Bubba.
A Masonic funeral will be scheduled.
