Charger girls volleyball hosts King & Queen today

Middlesex High School’s volleyball team triumphed in a five-set match at Rappahannock of Warsaw on Oct. 6.

Middlesex (17-2, 9-0) won the first and third sets 25-17 and 25-13; while Rappahannock took the second and fourth sets 25-19 and 25-16. This set up a fifth set that Middlesex won in overtime 18-16.

The Lady Chargers remain undefeated in Tidewater District competition and defeated visiting Mathews on Oct. 7.

At Rappahannock, sophomore Kinsley Horn recorded 12 kills for the Lady Chargers while teammate freshman Annie Bray hit 11 kills.

Also making kills were Hannah Koehler with six; Payton Baker with five; Rori Stuart with four; and Hannah Lambert with one kill.

Stuart also served at 100% with 11 serves. Payton Baker made 95% of her 21 serves.

Karadee Anderson made 88% of her 25 serves.

Middlesex was scheduled to play at Charles City on Oct. 14. Results were unavailable at press time. MHS is set to host King & Queen Central today, Thursday, Oct. 16, in the John S. Clements Memorial Gymnasium in Saluda. It will also host King William on Oct. 23 to wind up the regular season. The play starts at 7 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. junior varsity game.
