Christchurch School (CCS) Head Soccer Coach Matt Schaefer has been named Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division II Coach of the Year, CCS announced recently.
Coach Schaefer is in his 20th year coaching at Christchurch. He teaches math, does dorm duty, and coaches the girls soccer team in the spring.
Seahorse team co-captain Ignacio Rodriguez De Torres, son of Pedro Rodriguez Sanchez and Raquel De Torres Alvarez of Madrid, Spain, was named VISAA Division II Player-of-the-Year.
Co-captain John Ball, son of Lewis ‘95 and Becky Ball of Bruington, and Nikolas Salas Garcia, son of Ramon Salas Simon and Esther Garcia Sante of Madrid, Spain, were named to the All-State First Teamæ
