The Middlesex High School varsity volleyball team continues to improve. Although Middlesex lost 3-2 to Lancaster on Monday, the Lady Chargers made a good showing by winning the first two sets.

The Middlesex High School golf team improved to 7-2 with a win 174-202 over Mathews on Sept. 12. Peyton Lambert shot 34 to again lead the Charger effort. Garrison Robins and Hudson McMinn each shot a 46. Cameron Lambert carded a 48.

While Middlesex High School (MHS) lacks enough girls cross country participants to field a full-fledged varsity team this season, it does have four strong runners that will compete as individual Chargers.

Davy Nichols of White Stone, along with five of his friends and fellow players, are raising money for the new Deadrise Disc Golf at King Carter near Kilmarnock.

The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity Lady Charger volleyball team split a pair of matches last week, defeating Northumberland 3-0 but losing a five-game match to Chincoteague.

Middlesex High School and Christchurch School missed last week’s planned matchup, which was canceled three days before the game. It follows game cancellations the previous week.

Returning hitter Ella Hodges led the Lady Chargers with four kills and one block. Emma Oliver, another returning player, had seven assists and one ace.

“This is an exceptional time of year to visit Dragon Run. The days are still warm and the autumn foliage is stunning, especially where the trees arch across the water creating a cathedral effect.”

Although school officials are unable to speak about the reason for cancellation, high school and college sports games across the nation are being canceled due to COVID-19.

The 241 League baseball tournament will start Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Deltaville Ballpark at 7 p.m. The double elimination tournament will include all the teams in the league.
