Carole “Susie” Bristow, born July 9, 1946, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The Saluda resident was raised with deep love by Lola and Ranzy Gaskins, the parents she called Mom and Dad, who shaped her life from the very beginning. In her adult years, she also formed a meaningful relationship with her birth mother and stepfather, Zelphia and Ed Moscardini.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lola and Ranzy Gaskins, and Zelphia and Ed Moscardini; her husband, William “Bill” Bristow; her sister, Irene; and her brothers, Chubby, Paul, Lyndsey, and Wayne.
Susie is survived by her four children, Randy Bristow, Wanda Bristow, Michael Bristow, and Chele Allen (Robert). She was a proud NaNa to six grandchildren — Ranzy, Andrea, Amanda, Mary, Leanne, and Marty; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren, Dennis, Matt, and Jessie, all of whom brought her endless joy. She also shared a lifelong, cherished bond with her favorite niece, Debbie, who held a special place in her heart.
Raised on Hatteras Island, Susie grew up surrounded by salt air, strong community, and the simple beauty that helped shape her spirit. It was there that she met her husband, Bill, a young Coast Guardsman stationed on the island.
Susie had a gift for working with her hands and especially loved making ceramics. She and Bill also crafted wooden yard décor, which they enjoyed selling together at outdoor markets and festivals.
She faithfully served the Saluda community as a dedicated mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.
Susie’s legacy of strength and perseverance is woven into the lives of all who loved her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
