Betty Joe “Jodi” Eller passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025 at her home in Urbanna with her family by her side.
Jodi was born in Duplin County, N.C., on Dec. 13, 1970. She spent much of her life with family in North Carolina, New York, Maryland and lived here in our quaint little Town of Urbanna, for the past eight years.
She attended schools in North Carolina and New York, and enjoyed various careers in medical fields, the favorites of which were being a scribe for a psychiatrist and an activities director for a nursing home facility. While in Urbanna, Jodi enjoyed crafting and began creating oyster shell art which she displayed at various local markets as well as several Urbanna Oyster Festivals.
Anybody that had the pleasure of knowing Jodi witnessed the unfailing and loving devotion to her family. They truly meant everything to her. She also had an innate quality to draw people in with her zest for life coupled with her compassion towards all people, whether she knew them or not.
Jodi is survived by her husband, Thomas Alan Eller; mother, Eva Musselwhite; sons, Joshua Lee White (Jade), Bryan Lee White (Tara); grandson, Lance Lee White; brother, Larry Kornegay; sisters, Liz Kornegay, Alisa Meissner, Kellie Musselwhite Anderson; as well as many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Meissner; and father, Kenneth Meissner of Islip, N.Y.
The family would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, as well as the Urbanna rescue squad for its compassionate dedication.
Jodi will be laid to rest with a family service at a later date. The family requests those wishing to make a memorial donation direct them to Bay Aging in Urbanna.
